A very special Multi-Media Presentation on
Rapa Nui (Easter Island)
Saturday Sept. 22, 6-8pm
@ the Garage, 501 Kathryn St., Santa Fe
229 years after Capt. Cook landed on Easter Island and found a barren and desolate land, Dr. Gossen (me) found an ancient world including the extinct giant palm forests. Come hear and SEE this exciting adventure that Candace has spent the last 7 years, 500 pages and a lifetime journey being part of. Coring the crater lakes on the island, uncovering 15,000 years of climate change, fossil pollen analysis and human evidence of change, you are the first to know of what really happened to the trees!
It all begins with a fantastic slideshow, videos of the coring work and expeditions and the results of WHAT REALLY HAPPENED!
Come join me for this event, its donation based all helping to complete an illustrated book of the 33 plants that Candace uncovered in the fossil pollen and is putting together this lost knowledge to give to the women on the island. By returning this lost knowledge, the women will be able to grow these medicinal and food plants again. In this way my hope is to give back much more to help heal this injured place, through the women, one living creature at a time.
I love the analogy connections with trees. They so much reflect lives and living. So many! I look forward to seeing you in September. Would love to hear more about Easter Island history. Did a project last year with the middle schoolers and the statues.
